New Chapter! Royal Swords fencing is beginning a new chapter with the passing of the torch from Head Coach Fred Wenzel, to Tory Albertson. Coach Wenzel has invested years of service and effort into keeping the Olympic Sport of Fencing alive and accessible for folks in the Front Royal, Warren County region. It is the hope of those who follow in his footsteps to continue on in this tradition! The club will be in a time of transition for this next season as we settling in and work the invariable "new chapter bugs" out of the system. This "transition" will not, however, slow down, or negatively impact our ability to fence. Starting in August we will be meeting Tuesdays and Thursdays 5:30-8:00 at the same location. The first two weeks will be pretty much business as usual for those of you currently members or are fencing with us. The last two weeks of August will start to see a few small changes in the evening's routine. We will also start to look at finding so competitions, for those interested, to put on the calendar for the club!
Interested in Fencing? Please stop by and check things out! In transition or no, we love introducing folks to the sport we are passionate about. We have all the equip to get you started, and if you decide down the road that you want to stick with the sport then you will want to consider acquiring your own equipment. The plan for now is to start a new beginners class mid August, but depending on levels of interest we may postpone that into mid September. Contact Tory by the email below and he will get you set with the information you need.
If you are new to the area and looking for a new fencing home, we would love for you to consider us as that home. Stop by for a free visit and check out the facility and the club. We would love for you to join us, nothing like adding new perspectives and insights to improve our game.
Ongoing instruction and fencing continues year-round, and competitive tournaments take place throughout Virginia and surrounding states.
Open fencing is available for foil and epee. The schedule does occasionally vary, so please contact ahead of time to verify. The floor fee for visitors or occasional fencers is $10.
